About Us

My name is Milton, and this is the story of GreenPleco:  It was the early 80’s, a time with no internet or cells phones. It is hard to believe there was a time like that but there was. I was a kid who had just joined a new elementary school, and it was then when I met my childhood best friend. All of his family was into fishkeeping. The first thing I noticed when I visited his house for the first time was a huge fish tank. I was fascinated by the beautiful and colorful fish inside.  It was my friend who taught me everything I know about fishkeeping.  It was also during this time that I got my very first aquarium. I would spend hours looking at my fish-tank, and I really enjoyed watching the plecos placed their mouth against the glass.  I thought it would be cool to have a toy fish that look like a pleco, that had a suction cup that I could attach to the other side of the glass. Since suction cups were (and still are) used on fish tanks, as I kid, I thought for sure that a toy like that already existed.  I looked for one everywhere I could with no luck.  I then made my very own pleco toy, but it was made of carved wood and a bad suction cup that I found.  Years passed, I became a 3D artist, and for over twenty years I worked as a video game developer. Some of the most popular games that I have worked on are 2 James Bond games, 1 Mortal Combat game, MTX Mototrax and Knockout Kings 2001, just to mention a few. The pleco toy that I made as a kid was always on my mind, so I decided to combine both of my passions, 3D art and fishkeeping to design an improve toy pleco just like the one I imagined as a kid. This is how the Original Plecostomus Plush with the suction cup was created.  Fast forward to the present, we have grown to have different types of aquarium fish, and other aquarium pets into our collection. One thing that remains the same is that I still personally design each plushie in 3D prior to production. While we are growing and adding more plushies to our collection, the passion that goes into designing each plushie is the same as the little kid who made his first prototype back in the 80’s. These plushies are designed with love from one fish nut to another.  Thank you to all the GreenPleco fans and everyone who has purchased one of our plushies.
